Arts Impacting Achievement

Arts Impacting Achievement (AIA) was a research project funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Innovation and Improvement. A group of partners set out to document and disseminate an arts integration model that had been used in Chicago for over a decade in the Lakeview Education and Arts Partnership (LEAP).

The initiative worked in 6 schools across two cities, Chicago and Elgin, to better understand the ways that the arts can be used as a catalyst for learning across the curriculum. The growth in teacher abilities to teach in and through the arts was studied through an experimental design. This website represents the lessons learned through three years of work with teachers, artists and students growing through arts integrated practice.
